Osprey nest each spring atop this non-power pole placed here specifically for this purpose by the Chelan County Public Utility District (PUD). The nesting pole is located near a bus stop and the US Geological Survey Stream Flow Measuring station between the Wenatchee River and US Highway 2, slightly north of the town of Peshastin, Washington 98847 USA. This pole with nesting box on top was a way for the PUD to entice the raptors away from power poles. The plan worked and allows the seasonal osprey a safer place to raise a family each spring, rather than the power poles they too often might choose otherwise.
